Hello again!!

So this is a trend on TikTok right now, and I'm sure you've already seen it: de-influencing, the oppositive of influencing. If you haven't seen it, basically people take popular items that influencers usually promote or that people rave about, and they say the real thing, what makes it not worth it, and the cons of it. So that's what I'm gonna do! To be honest I'm probably forgetting some, so I may do a part two! Also, I'm going to do a skincare edition, so stay tuned!

So let's get de-influenced!

1. Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

Okay, don't get me wrong. I own this blush, I use this blush (and will probably use it for my next 9 lives), but I wouldn't buy it again. Hear me here: everyone says how pigmented it is, and that's great, but for me it's TOO pigmented. Like, I barely touch the wand on my skin, and I look horrible. It's not fun that you always have to deal with too much blush everytime you apply it. For the same price (or less), I know some other pigmented blushes I'd rather have.

2. Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight

I was literally so excited to try this highlighter because I've been wanting a liquid one for a long time. But I got disappointed fast. First, it sure highlights, but it's also gliterry. Like my faces glitters when I have it on, it's not like another highligther that just makes a shine. Also, you have to blend it before you even applied it, because if you don't blend it fast there'll be like a "patch" of where you applied it AFTER you blended it.

3. L'Oréal Paris Infallible 24H Fresh Wear Powder Foundation

Okay, I'm gonna be honest, I never tried this. But I have a good reason: IT TESTS ON ANIMALS!!!! So firstly, whenever I see a product go viral, knowing that they test on animals, it makes me so sad knowing so many people will buy it without knowing they're hurting animals doing that. So, I'm telling you. Plus, I've seen a bunch of people saying they were disappointed in it and that it isn't really actually that good.

4. Beauty Blender The Original

I'm going to say it: 26$ (I'm Canadian) for a sponge is ridiculous. I mean, if you want "the original" and are rich and can drop 26$ on a sponge, you do you. But I'm telling you, I bought beauty blenders from ELF, the dollar store, and many other stores, all for less than 26$ (collectively) and they all worked well, did the job, and didn't make me breakout or anything. Literally any sponge will do the same thing! No need to drop so much money on it!

5. NARS Liquid Blush

So this thing is 39$. I'm sorry, but that's insane to me. It's so easy to find a pink liquid blush that does exactly the same thing, but less expensive. Also, they test on animals. I could understand the price if they were cruelty free so it could be more expensive to be ethic, but 39$ for a blush that test on animals, it's a big no for me.

6. MILK MAKEUP Hydro Grip Hydrating Makeup Primer

So, I actually have no problem with this primer. I havent' tried it, but I heard it's a miracle, and I really wanted to buy it. It's also cruelty free. So, you're asking, "Arent you supposed to be de-influencing us?". Yes. The reason why I'm telling you not to buy it is because, there's a very much cheaper and as effective dupe, cruelty free too: the ELF Power Grip Primer. Same thing, less expensive. There's also even a new one that does that same, but works as skincare too!!

7. Maybelline New York Age Rewind Concealer

First of all, before we even get into the de-influencing, can we talk about the shade range? Inexisting. No inclusivity at all. So there's already a reason to not buy this product. Then, guess what? It tests on animals. Yup. By buying this product, you would be encouraging a non inclusive, testing on animals company. Also, you could find a concealer just as good from any other company. And I didnt't even covered the fact that you lose so much product in the sponge applicator.

8. Tower 28 Beauty ShineOn Lip Jelly Non-Sticky Gloss

Okay this is actually cute, and I'm sure it looks good and everything, but let's face it: You already have way too much lipglosses, you don't need a new one, even if you're telling yourself "But this one is different!". If you need a lipgloss so bad, go get a 5$ one from Essence Cosmetics or any other brand that doesn't cost 21$. Y0ur wallet will thank you.

9. Benefit Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain

I'm starting off with my number one "why I don't buy makeup products even though I want to try them so hard" argument: Yes, you guessed it, they test on animals!!! So, right away, it should be a turn off for you. If it isn't, well let me go on: This is 29$. So expensive. You can find other products that do the same thing, that work better.

10. Dior BACKSTAGE Rosy Glow Blush

I'm going to say it again: This company also tests on animals!! Yes, yes, Dior tests on animals. That behind, let's be honest, 55$ for a light pink powder blush that barely shows up, it's way too much. I get that you might like the appearance of it, so you might want to check up Too Faced for that side. Otherwise, you can find a lot of pink powder blushes that are less expensive and do the same thing. Maybe check Physician Phormula!

11. Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

So, I'm pretty sure we've all seen this one, because it's REALLY popular, and it's been promoted by many celebrities. But, again, they test on animals!!! Not many people know that, but the company owning Charlotte Tilbury actually is not cruelty free, making Charlotte Tilbury not cruelty free too. So, paying that much for a product that tests on animals? Never. The ELF Halow Glow Liquid Filter does the same thing, is cruelty free, and affordable!!

12. CLINIQUE Almost Lipstick in Black Honey

Once again, an overpriced product that test on animals and have a cruelty free affordable dupe. It seems like most of the products that go viral fall into that category. Anyway, this product is not worth it. Way too expensive. The Burt's Bees tinted lip balm or ELF Hydrating Core Lip Shine do the same thing for more than half the price (plus the ELF one is way cuter), so, don't watse your money on that.

13. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze

Okay so this one works really well, and is cruelty free, but it's also like 30$, for a clear gel in a pot. When you put it like that, it's definitely not worth that much. Also, ELF has, again, a dupe that does the same thing but for a fraction of the price. I also want to mention that I'm not sponsored by ELF, I just love it so much, but I wouldn't say no to a collab if some ELF worker is reading this.

14. Maybelline sky high mascara

Okay, yes, this products works really well, but unfortunately, it test on animals. Also, even though this mascara looks really good, I know some other ones that looks way better. In the high end side, there's the Better than Sex Too Faced mascara, my holy grail, and on the affordable but still very high quality end, there's the Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess mascara, that is amazing. So ditch the testing on animals mascara and let's start buying cruelty free in 2023!

There you go! Like I said, I might do a part 2! Also, look out for the skincare edition! I really hope I can help you save some money and stop de-normalize the influencing and overconsumption in the beauty industry!

Love you all,

The Indecisive xxx
