A Canadian's Girl Guide To Winter
- Kind But Clever

Hello again!!
So I don't know if you heard about it, but today in Quebec is really cold, like -40 celsius degrees here. I had to go to school, and the car nearly didn't start, and then I had to go get the mail and my fingers froze and were bright red and burning, I didn't even feel them anymore. It is really the worst, they tell people to not go outside. So, all of that made me think of something: how do you survive cold like this? So that's how I got the idea to make a post about it! So here you have it: How to to survive winter, from a north girlie.
1. Get some good apparel to keep you warm
I'm talking, of course, having mittens, beanie, etc. Those will help you survive so much, especially if you have to drive and put your hands on a freezing steering wheel. Also, a good coat is THE must. Not too tight, not too big, and made to be in very cold temperatures. Then, some good isolated boots. Cheap boots will make your feet cold because air will get in there or they're not isolated enough, and that is not good, because cold feet means cold body. Lastly, don't forget to wear warm clothes: hoodie, knitted things... You can also layer. Just, dress warm.
2. Limit your moves
When it's one of the coldest days of the winter, it's not time to go shopping or whatever. Only go outsicde if you need to, make no unnecessary moves. And if you do need to go out and go some places, do them all at once. Make one trip then get back home. Don't go back and forth from your house and car all day. Do all your errands in one trip then stay at home warm.
3. Eat and drink according to the weather
When it's really cold days, maybe it's not the time to eat salads and smoothies. Maybe eat soup, hot pastas, cooked meals. Drink coffee, tea, hot chocolate... Eat and drink hot things, to help keep you warm and not make you even more cold.
4. Keep yourself warm
Do things that will help you be warm. Workout, it'll make you feel hot and keep you warm. If you prefer to not move at all to keep your own warmess, then get a blanket, and cover your feet. You can also take a hot shower or bath. Do anything that will warm you.
5. Alcohol doesn't make you warm
Sorry, but drinking alcohol will not make you warm. It could actually make you more cold. While drinking it, you could feel it warm, but it could actually make your body's temperature go down, so try to avoid during that.
So those are my tips! I know it's not much, but I'd rather make a short post easy to remember than a long one with details that are easily forgettable. So, stay safe everyone, take care of yourself, and stay alerted! We'll get through this!
Love you all,
The Indecisive xxx
